Click systems for ceramic and natural stone tiles

A new development in the field of ceramic and natural stone floors is the so-called click and fit systems. These are tiles that are fitted with a special synthetic profile, thanks to which the tiles can be easily clicked together. The tiles no longer need to be glued to the underlay or the concrete base floor. This type of flooring demands a highly specialised underlay, especially when a high degree of noise reduction is required. For this purpose Unifloor has developed Cocofloor Cork®, an underlay that provides a high level of stability for the click and fit connection of the tiles, as well as a very high impact noise reduction of at least 22 dBΔLw. Click here to learn more about the product.

Floor heating

Using floor heating in combination with a noise reducing underlay could cause some difficulties. On one hand the underlay needs certain characteristics to reduce impact noise sufficiently, but on the other hand the thermal resistance of the underlay and floor covering combined may not be so high that the heat can no longer penetrate the floor.
